History: This Grand Victorian Manor House is situated in the heart of Northumberland, and was built by the Swan family from Newcastle, in 1897. In the 1900’s a family called the Richardson’s lived there. Their 2 daughters Adelaide who was 17 years old and Nelly who was 26 were left at home, whilst their parents went out for the night. Later when their parents returned they found Adelaide impaled on the spikes in the railings that surrounded the Castle Tower. It was known that there was sibling rivalry and Nelly was very jealous that Adelaide was engaged to be married to a local farmer. Nelly was questioned about the death of her sister and rumours that they had an argument and fight and that Nelly had pushed her sister out of the Tower window to make it look like she had fallen. A year to the date of Adelaide’s death. Nelly married her sisters fiance. The Boys’ Brigade aquired the building in 1976 and stills owns the building which is now used as an outdoor activities centre.
Ghosts: Adelaide is set to roam the building. Shadows have been seen and screams have been heard. Doors are said to open by themselves. Staff report the feeling of uneasiness in certain parts of the building. Will you #daretojoinus as we Ghost Hunt then bed down for the night in this huge old haunted mansion.

History: A grand old Manor house that stands on a hill named ‘Derwent’. Maps of the area dates the Manor back, to being built anywhere between, June 1809 and August 1811. A local Parish Register logs state that Mary Slack, the wife of William Slack, registered his wife's date of death to August 23rd 1811. She was 37 years old and died at ‘Derwent Hill’. This was the very first log of Derwent Hill found. The family had a number of tragedies, where 4 of their children died very young, the youngest being only 2 days old and the oldest boy being only 6 years old. It brought so much sorrow and sadness to the family. A year after Mary’s death, William then went on to marry Mary Turner who went onto have 7 children. William Slack then passed away aged 55 in August 1830. The Manor House later went to auction and was luckily snapped up by Williams’ son Dr Robert Slack until again he died in 1893. The house stayed in the family and was inherited by Robert, Dr Robert’s son, He then later died in April 1934 and was sold off in 1935 to the Central Board of Finance of the Church of England and the spent over 40 years as St Catherine’s College. It was then bought by Sunderland City Council in 1962 and the Outdoor Activities Centre was created and is still used as. Still to this day the ‘Slacks’ coat of arms proudly sits on the entrance to the old Manor house.
Ghosts: Many of children visiting the centre report seeing a ‘white lady’ roaming the halls at night. Is this Mary Slack? Staff of the centre report the sound of children playing and laughing coming from the dormitories when the building is empty. Hundreds of years of history seep out of the walls. Layer upon layer of energies. Will you #daretojoinus for a night at Derwent Hill?

Jedburgh Castle Jail - Scottish Boarders
Ghost Hunt
Saturday
8:50pm - 1am
Tickets £45pp (20pp deposit with remaining balances due 4 weeks prior)
History: Site of 12th-century castle was one of the strongholds handed over to the English after the Treaty of Falaise to release William the Lyon from captivity, but it was recovered by the Scots. Malcolm the Maiden died here in 1165. Alexander III was married at the castle in 1285, but a ghostly apparition warned of his impending death – which came true when Alexander fell, with his horse, from a cliff at Kinghorn. The castle was occupied by the English after the Battle of Neville’s Cross in 1346 until 1409, when it was retaken by the Scots and demolished, the work paid for by the Crown. A jail was erected on the site of the old castle in 1823, a Howard reform prison, and the only type of its kind now remaining in Scotland. The prison closed in 1880. Jedburgh Castle Jail is now a museum, with a fascinating display of exhibits relating to 19th-century prison life.
Ghosts: One of the ghost of Jedburgh Jail is Edwin McArthur, a prisoner who was executed here in 1855 who wonders the corridor of the derelict men’s wing intimidating people. Children’s voices have been heard on equipment asking for help and a heavy cell door slamming shut in front of our guests by unseen hands. A glow ball caught rolling into and out of one of the cells was caught on our cctv by itself. This is not for the faint hearted.

History: This former rectory dates back to 1248 and is now a grade I listed building. It is one of the oldest domestic houses in England. Around the back are many stone buildings that in 1792 were listed as stables, barns, coach house, granary, dovehouse, corn chamber, stable yard and a 39 foot row of lower buildings for pigs, chickens etc. There were also offices for brewing, washing, cellaring and coals. The last rector to live here was the Reverend George Algernon West who was incumbent from 1909. After 1921 Seaton Holme became a children's home and had alterations such as dormitories added to it. In 1937 the children were moved and then it became an annex to the workhouse for old men from 1959/60. Seaton Holme became a day care and training centre but was neglected and around 1990 and fell into dispair it was sold to Easington Parish Council for £1, it is now used as offices and functions.
